B.S.A. TROOP 109 - Randolph, New Jersey

Sabattis Adventure Camp, Summer 2011

  • Note: All paperwork is to be completed by participating scouts, leaders, and anyone who brings the trailer to Sabattis and back.
  • Summer Camp Week: Saturday, July 16th to Saturday, July 23rd
  • Important Date: Saturday, June 11th, 2:30-4:00 PM Summer Camp Shakedown. Plan on attending this important meeting where we'll prepare for our trip to Sabattis. You are to come packed as if we were leaving that day for camp. Also come prepared to discuss your merit badge choices.
  • Important Date: Tuesday, May 17th, 7:00PM Parents' Meeting. All paperwork is due at this time.
  • Reminder on Important Paperwork Requirement: Please make a copy (front and back) of your scout's Health Insurance Card. You need to write the Subcriber's name, Social Security number and date of birth on that copy (somewhere below the insurance card). This is due at the Tuesday, May 17th 7:00PM Summer Camp Parents' meeting. This procedure is necessary for all adult participants as well.
  • Merit Badge Schedule & Prerequisites: We will discuss your merit badge choices at the Shakedown meeting. New scouts will be advised on appropriate merit badge choices. Don't forget to complete all prerequisites with a merit badge counselor before Summer Camp. To do this you must speak with Mr. Murray to obtain a counselor's name & telephone number and to get your blue card signed.
  • Personal Gear: We suggest that each item be labeled with the scout's name and Troop 109. A list of suggested personal gear can be found in our Troop 109 Summer Camp Equipment Checklist.
  • Tents: All tents must be visibly marked near the front entrance with NO FLAMES IN TENT sign. All Tents are to be a 2-4 man "backpacking" tent. We will discuss this at the Summer Camp Shakedown meeting. It is a good idea to waterproof your tent prior to summer camp. The folks at Ramsey's can show you several products that will do a good job.
  • Summer Camp Bus Schedule: We will be leaving on the bus from the Parsippany Sheraton Hotel on Smith Road. Please arrive by 7 am ready to go!
  • Food for the Bus Ride: We recommend each scout bring a simple, bag of snacks and drinks for the trip. No glass containers. Please also bring a bag for garbage. The bus to Sabattis always makes a stop at McDonalds for lunch. Scouts are responsible for either purchasing or bringing their own lunch. All leftover food will be thrown away upon arrival at Sabbattis.
  • Trading Post: The Trading Post operates as a service to the camp community and is well stocked to meet your daily needs. Stock includes snacks, soft drinks, patches, shirts, and other collectibles available for your enjoyment. Any food purchased at the Trading Post is to be eaten there and not taken back to the camp site. This is a precaution due to the high population of bears in the area. It is recommended that each scout bring between $30 - $40 for spending money while at camp. It is the scout's responsibility to guard against theft or loss of money while at camp, as well as to save some of their funds to purchase a meal on the ride home.
  • Mail: Mail can be sent to your scout at the following address. Scouts love getting mail at camp. We suggest that you mail your letter on Friday, July 15th.
Scout Name, Troop 109, Iroquois
Sabattis Adventure Camp
Patriots' Path Council B.S.A.
1745 Sabattis Road
Long Lake, NY 12847
  • Emergency Calls: In case of emergency, the Sabattis Camp office telephone number is 518 624-3676. A message will be taken and delivered to the individual concerned as quickly as possible. Do not expect to talk to the person immediately.
  •     IMPORTANT PAPERWORK
  • Medication Form: This procedure is for all scouts and adults attending Sabattis. Completed Medication Form (this is a 2 page form) and Medicine must be brought to the Troop Meeting on Friday, July 15th at 6:30 PM (see Calendar for details). All medication (prescription and non prescription) is to be in its original container, and then placed in a zip lock bag, labeled with your name and troop number. Then it is to be noted on Part 2 of the form with a physician's signature. If you are not bringing any medications (prescription or non prescription) to camp, then you are to write the word "NONE" on page 2 of the form (you do not need a physican's signature). This means every participant must have both forms (no exceptions).
  • Talent Release Form: Patriot's Path camps will be taking photos and videos of scouts having fun at various activities during their stay at summer camp for use in promotional materials. In order to utilize these photos and videos all Scouts and adults are required to fill out and sign a Talent Release Form. This form is due by the May 17th Parents' meeting.
  • N.Y. State Dept. Of Health Meningitis Paperwork: Each scout and parent is required to read the two-page letter, read and complete the one-page form, and read the two-page disease description. The form is due by the May 17th Parents' meeting meeting.
